Beta known issues

Before sending feedback, check the notes for your version of TuneFuse. Each beta lists known issues, workarounds and what changed.

I’m building TuneFuse on my own as a side project, so it may take me some time to reply to feedback or fix an issue. Thanks for your patience.

The beta may stop working once the full release is available.

TuneFuse Beta 0.7

Playback

Known Issues

  • macOS Control Centre shows two players for TuneFuse.
  • Synced lyrics are out of sync when playing Dolby Atmos tracks.
  • The Hotkey Window may briefly flicker the first time it opens.
  • Artwork in the fullscreen player sometimes stays blurry.

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed the right sidebar getting stuck closed and the window unexpectedly widening when resizing it.
  • Seeking, restarting a song, and the time labels now animate more smoothly.

New Features

  • Choose the floating player bar or the right sidebar player in Settings → Appearance. If you close the sidebar, the player bar comes back.
  • Hold ⌘Q to quit. Let go before the animation finishes to keep listening.
  • AirPlay guidance and system-volume controls are available across more player views.

Favorites and Browsing

Known Issues

  • Horizontal scrolling can interfere with vertical scrolling.
  • Favorite hearts and animations sometimes glitch in the artist list drawer.
  • Adding imported songs to favorites does not work.
  • Some library actions still require Apple Music to be open in the background.

Resolved Issues

  • Favorite artists now appear even if you have no music from them saved in your library.
  • Favorite hearts stay visible while changes are confirmed, without flashing again.
  • Unavailable songs no longer show playback controls or an error when clicked.
  • Reduced repeated artwork and layout work while scrolling Home, artist pages, and song lists.

New Features

  • Favorites have new animations. Changed your mind? Press ⌘Z within ten seconds to undo a favorite change.
  • Albums, playlists, and the player have more consistent right-click menus. Available actions include Play Next, Add to Playlist, Favorite, Suggest Less, sharing, and links to Apple Music.
  • Supported albums and playlists can now be deleted from your library through their menus. If an item cannot be removed, open Apple Music and remove it there.

General

Resolved Issues

  • The startup window uses your selected light or dark appearance from the start.
  • Improved contrast in dark-mode Settings and added borders around player choices.

New Features

  • Error alerts offer a bug-report draft with a reference code and diagnostic logs. You can review it before sending.
  • This beta reports app opens and version/build using a random installation identifier, so I can see which versions are still being used. It does not include your email, hardware identifiers, or music data.

General

  • What’s New introduces each Beta update with feature previews and can be reopened from Settings.
  • Onboarding now includes appearance, notch hover, and Now Playing notification choices. Returning users receive a short introduction to the new options.

Artists

  • Pin your artist list open, or let it expand when you hover.
  • Find Apple Music artists alongside matches from your library.
  • Explore artist biographies in a redesigned view with large photographs and useful details.

Playback

Known Issues

New Features

  • Double-click library destinations in the sidebar to start shuffled playback; double-click playlists or Favorite Songs to play in their saved order.
  • The queue shows loading progress while albums and playlists prepare to play.

Library and Browsing

Known Issues

  • Adding imported songs to favorites does not work.
  • Deleting items from your library is not supported yet. Workaround: Open Apple Music and remove them there.

Resolved Issues

  • Home keeps loaded recommendation shelves stable during refresh, and Favorite Artists updates when your favorites change.
  • Improved missing library cover recovery and artwork refreshes in Search.
  • Top Songs artwork keeps its size during playback updates, and player cover transitions survive artwork updates.
  • Recently Added artwork is no longer clipped when enlarged on hover.
  • Search results and artist pages stay clear of the navigation sidebar, with improved spacing in compact album and playlist details.

Now Playing

New Features

  • A brief Now Playing popup shows new songs while TuneFuse is inactive. It blends into the notch on supported displays or appears as an artwork-colored floating player on displays without a notch.
  • Hover over the popup to expand playback controls, or click its artwork to open the Hotkey Window on that display. Station names appear beneath Now Playing when available.
  • Configure Now Playing popups and notch hover in Appearance settings, with animated previews for displays with and without a notch.

Playback and Queue

New Features

  • Swipe horizontally with two fingers over artwork or song details to move between songs in the player bar, sidebar, fullscreen player, Hotkey Window, and notch or floating player. Preview the next or previous song as you swipe, with haptic feedback and the change applied when you release.

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed player artwork and background flickering when starting a station.
  • Improved artwork, scrolling titles, background color transitions, and favorite-button animations during song changes.
  • Queue additions and removals animate without refreshing the entire list.
  • Songs already known to be unavailable are excluded from queue additions. Songs that prove unavailable during queue playback are skipped so playback can continue.
  • Selecting an unavailable song shows clearer feedback with an explanation, without attaching its error to the song already playing. Unavailable song links no longer open missing album or artist pages.
  • The lyrics button is dimmed when lyrics are unavailable while remaining visible on light and dark backgrounds.
  • Only explicit songs show a content rating badge; clean songs no longer display a “C” badge.

Library and Navigation

Resolved Issues

  • Home and New no longer flash or appear to reload when navigating back.
  • Unavailable songs are correctly dimmed in Favorite Songs and hidden from the Hotkey Window’s “In Your Library” search results.

General

Fullscreen Player

New Features

  • Enjoy large artwork, animated backgrounds, lyrics, and your queue in the new fullscreen player. Open it from the player artwork or with Command-Shift-F.
  • Swipe down with two fingers on the background or artwork to dismiss it.

Queue and Lyrics

New Features

  • Switch between Queue and Lyrics with the picker or a two-finger horizontal swipe.
  • Your Lyrics preference is remembered, with the queue shown when lyrics are unavailable.

Resolved Issues

  • Lyrics return to the top when seeking to the beginning of a song.
  • Improved lyrics readability, queue hover effects, and sidebar resizing.

Playback

Known Issues

  • A crash can occur while skipping tracks during playback recovery. This is still under investigation.

New Features

  • Explicit and clean badges now appear beside song and album titles.

Resolved Issues

  • Improved playback selection between clean and explicit album editions.

Library and Navigation

Known Issues

  • The left sidebar sometimes appears blurry on launch.

  • Artwork sizing can be incorrect in Recently Added and Albums.

Resolved Issues

  • More consistent page spacing and artwork alignment, including Top Songs on artist pages.
  • Reduced content flashing and jumping while browsing or resizing the sidebar.
  • Improved Back navigation for linked artists, playlists, and Favorite Songs.
  • Artist favorite changes now stay consistent between the list and detail pages.
  • Corrected Favorite Songs durations.

New Features

  • Global search now uses Command-Control-F. Command-F opens search from Home, New, and Radio.
  • Escape clears a shortcut search, then returns to your previous page.

Resolved Issues

  • Search category artwork no longer flashes gray when returning to Search.
  • Leaving search no longer activates the previous page’s search field.

Hotkey Window

New Features

  • Disable the Hotkey Window and notch hover in Settings without losing your preferences.
  • Quick Actions is now called Hotkey Window.

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed Escape handling and a brief flash when opening the window.
  • Restored the compact player when hovering over a display’s hardware notch.
  • Improved player controls and notch transitions.
